Rhino Charge Driver Briefing

This weekend some of the team will attend the driver briefing. I have added the pictures below of the drivers briefing at Braeburn School.

At the briefing we get to see a map of the general area where the charge will be held and this is the first indication of what the terrain might be like for the event, and leaves us about three weeks to go for final preparations. During this time we plan to get together to take the car out to do some cross country work and check that it is all working well and that the team know how to work together too. We have worked out our individual roles for now and unless we have an injury on the day then Tanya will drive, Louise will navigate, Gemma, Mary, Julie and Helle will be the runners.

Between now and the event we also have to get the car to Rivercross, where a GPS tracking device is installed so that our real time movements can be monitored by the organisers. This system allows them to calculate acutal distances for individual cars from the data that they download. The vehicle positions can be monitored from a screen in the main spectator tent. We had a problem with our Rivercross device last year which meant that a short section of one of the legs did not record and left us poorly placed. We will make sure that all these gadgets are working well.

Once again thank you everyone for your support. We are now at $11, 200 on FIRST GIVING  and 3640 pounds on JUST GIVING though online donations. We will make a final push for contributions to rhino rouge. We would very much like to get donations in before the event, for one particular reason.. Because every dollar or shilling that we raise as a team cuts down our final mileage on the day!!! This will obviously make a positive difference to our final placing too! Here is how to support us.

If you would like to support our car or know of anyone or a company who would like to back us please get in touch with us and leave a comment on this blog.
